STUDENTS WIN AGAIN!
Students receive 2nd place award to benefit their learning lab and Caring Hearts Food Ministries WOW Produce Pantry food distribution program.
In 2018, students from the Chapter resumed their legacy with enthusiastic service to WOW and collectively served over 96,400 pounds of fresh, nutritious produce to 2357 Tristate families, comprising over 6775 individuals of all ages. The MHS FCCLA ECE Chapter has been essential to the success of WOW. Salvaging what would be considered thousands of pounds of blemished food waste is a labor-intensive process, yet, thru diligent volunteer service performed by the students, families could choose from the best of the ‘recovered, rescued’ food. Their devotion has shown through with early, Friday morning commitment in inclement weather and extenuating circumstances.
It has been a pleasure serving alongside prolific smiles and a steadfast hard work ethic. The students made a considerable impact at WOW by striving for excellence, participating in force with tenacious efforts meticulously culling produce, lugging boxes, and providing respectful service with poise and distinction to members of our community who find themselves in need. The legacy of student leaders from MHS FCCLA ECE Chapter have once again gone above and beyond with a generous contribution to Caring Hearts by donating 1101 boxes of macaroni n’ cheese diligently collected during their Lead2Feed food drive project.
We have been continually impressed by the Students commitment to an often overlooked and unfortunate circumstance regarding food access and love to see them recognized for their loyal service and dedication to Caring Hearts Food Ministry and our shared mission to provide nutritious, supplementary “Foods2Encourage” to local households. We want to thank the student leadership from MHS FCCLA ECE Chapter for their generous contribution of time and laborious efforts feeding our community by taking a direct bite out of poverty and food insecurity in the tristate river valley. We trust that this project experience will be invaluable as they cultivate future community leadership roles.
